This is a great cover crop to use in our cooler months that will help build organic matter and provide nitrogen into the soil. Similar to English peas grown for food but this does not climb and the peas are edible but not early as good. This is grown to produce thick biomass. We use this in the winter months when we do not want to plant other food/cash/seed crops and cut it back and turn into the soil early spring. Do not wait too long because although they are pretty, when temperatures start warming in the spring, they can become infested with aphids.
